Spring Cleaning for the Soul: Embracing New Beginnings

Spring Cleaning for the Soul_ Embracing New Beginnings - trauma recovery

Introduction: A Season of Renewal

Despite spring officially starting a month ago, April always feels like the kick-off of the season to me. This is the perfect time to assess where you are, what’s working, and what may need some nurturing so that you can make room for all that you are ready to receive.

Clearing the Clutter in Your Life

Just like cleaning out your closets to make space for new things, it’s essential to declutter your life in general. As we go through our day-to-day, we accumulate energy and emotions from our relationships, careers, and daily experiences. This includes heavy emotions like disappointments, hurt, loss, shame, guilt, and overwhelm.

Shining a Light on Unprocessed Emotions

In this season of newness and rebirth, it’s the perfect time to shine a light on these often hidden emotions. By acknowledging and processing them, you can open up space for new levels of energy and upliftedness.

What in your life is tapping you on the shoulder, ready to exist, just waiting for you to breathe life into it?

What needs to be let go so that you can make space for something new?

Self-Reflection and Tough Questions

Take a moment for self-reflection and ask yourself the tough questions.

Are the people and situations in your life supportive of your growth?

If not, it might be time for some tough conversations and brutal honesty. It’s time to ask yourself, ‘why.’

Why are you in certain relationships, jobs, or attached to particular hobbies?

Do these aspects of your life make your heart sing or create drag?

Recognizing the Signs of Unhealed Trauma

If you notice persistent negative patterns like snapping at others, perfectionism, escapism, or a feeling of being stuck, it might be an indication of unhealed trauma wounds. Mother Culture teaches us to suppress and deny, but this only leads to inner wounds festering beneath our awareness. These wounds can contaminate every aspect of our lives, from personal relationships and success to professional relationships and success.
