It’s easy to get caught up in our day to day routines. We have work, family, friends, obligations, TV, social media, and hundreds of other daily distractions. But have you ever asked yourself “Am I living a life that reflects who I am?”
Are you? Or are have you simply slipped into an unconscious pattern of existence?
Lifestyle design is about making conscious choices. Each moment presents an opportunity to make a decision either toward or away from wellness, growth, and purpose. At any point, we have the option of choosing a life of our making or falling back into societal patterns.
If you’re ready to embrace personal growth, find fulfillment in your life, and live with intention, keep reading for our guide on living a lifestyle by design.
Take a Moment to Reflect
Distractions are everywhere. The average American spends over three hours every single day staring at their phones. And this doesn’t include watching TV, playing video games, or any other distractions.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to sit in silence? When was the last time you paused to reflect and spend some time with yourself without external distractions? To create a fulfilling lifestyle design we encourage you to do this now and ask yourself the following questions:
- What am I passionate about?
- What makes me feel fulfilled and accomplished?
- What am I happy about in my life?
- What am I unhappy about in my life?
- What aspects of my life misrepresent who I am?
- What does my lifestyle by design look like?
Write down these questions and any others you think of, leaving room for your subsequent answers. Reflect and meditate on each question and give yourself time to find the truth.
Change the Way You Think
A successful lifestyle design requires altering the way we think, also known as cognitive reframing. We must put ourselves in a more positive mindset to exist and operate at a higher vibration.
Our perception shapes our reality. While there are some external events that we can’t control, we can control how we react to and process those events. In doing so, we learn a mind-blowing truth – we are in complete control of our own happiness.
However, you also need to understand that thought backed by intention carries substantial energy. If you want something and believe it can happen, you can manifest it into reality. It might not happen automatically or without effort, but it will happen.
Focus on the life you want and believe you have the power to make it your new reality.
Surround Yourself With Like-Minded Individuals
Who we keep as company can have a significant impact on who we are and what our life looks like. Many of us act like chameleons on some level, sometimes purposely, sometimes unintentionally. We tend to alter our behavior and our lives based on who we spend the most time with.
While this isn’t an excuse to irradicate certain individuals from your life, it is a call to become more conscious about who and what you’re allowing into your sphere of influence. Start surrounding yourself by and communicating with people whose priorities and choices align with yours.
As always, remain open-minded and tolerant of other people and opinions. However, an intention-based lifestyle design requires a higher level of self-awareness. Spend time around people who vibrate at your level or higher to pursue personal growth, self-fulfillment, and maybe even find your purpose.
